Long tailed mayflies (Palingenia longicauda) flying above the surface of the Tisza River near Tiszainoka, 135 kilometers (84 miles) southeast of Budapest. Millions of these insects, whose life cycle lasts only a few hours, mate and reproduce in the season “Tiszaviragzas” or river Tisza, which lasts from late spring to early summer each year.
